Recently there have been magazine reports of Raymond, while filming TVB series "Tai Chi" in Shanghai, having a female assistant always by his side and even entering his (hotel) room for 20 minutes. Scoop made a special trip to Shanghai to the location where Raymond was filming to hear his explanation in person to see if the news is true. Even though Raymond has been in the mainland for 3 months, he already knows that he has become the cover story. Raymond: "I knew that the reporters have come over to do some interviews. Even though they were not direct interviews, I really didn't mind when we were at the filming location. I was only working anyways. I didn't realize that a simple informal interview would turn into a cover story. I really thank them for this. Things such as wearing the same style of coat and eating together. (Towards the female reporter.) We are dressed the same, so there will be rumours of us." So are the reports of Raymond with his female assistant true? Raymond: "I have hired this assistant for 3 series. From a bosses point of view, if the assistant was not helpful in the first series, I would have fired her. I wouldn't have continued to use her. It is because she does a good job, a very good job. In fact, I'm not the only one that she helps, but ... how do I explain this? I can't support her. I only come to the mainland once per year." Reports say that Raymond takes good care of his assistant. And even asks her if she needs any help. Waaah...Raymond! She should be the one helping you! Raymond: "This is not the slave generation. It doesn't mean that I have to treat the assistant badly with a black face or whip her to get her to work." Reporter: "You can't do that because then reports will say that you are mistreating her." Raymond: "Is it if the reporter sees that I am mean towards the assistant then they will know who my assistant is? It shouldn't be like that. It's a civilized society. Especially since she has helped me in 3 series, we are sort of like friends. So even if I help her carry things, she has a lot of things to carry, I don't think it should be a problem." Regarding the reports of the female assistant entering his (hotel) room, Raymond plainly admitted. Raymond: "If the assistant doesn't enter your (hotel) room to pack things then she is not your assistant. Unless the assistant is irresponsible. Any assistant will enter the (hotel) room to prepare things for their boss. There is no reason why I should pack things myself. What is the purpose of hiring an assistant? To reduce your everyday work so you can concentrate on acting. To help you clean your room is a requirement. I don't see any problems with the assistant entering the (hotel) room. Honestly, yes, we did close the door. But in the past, we would never close the door. But we closed the door this time because we knew that there were reporters around. I was afraid that they will take pictures when they walk by then it would be worst."
