News on Fung Wan Shui Yuet [14/7/2006]

TVB Films Long Series to Celebrate 10th Anniversary of Hong Kong’s Handover, Collaborating with China

Next year is the 10th Anniversary of Hong Kong’s handover back to China. TVB will be collaborating with China to film a sixty episodes series, Fung Wai Sui Yuet (temporary name), and the series will be filmed in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Canada. It will be scheduled to air in July next year in both Hong Kong and China.

Since At the Threshold of an Era, there hasn’t been another sixty episode series filmed in a long time. Seeing that next year is the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong’s handover, TVB will be co-operating with China to film Fung Wai Sui Yuet. This series is also considered as part of the celebrations of Hong Kong’s handover back to China and both parties value this 2007 grand production greatly. TVB has also decided for Leung Ka Shu as the producer of the series, and will have highly promoted siu sangs and fa dans, namely Charmaine Sheh, Jessica Hsuan, Raymond Lam, Ron Ng and veteran actor Damien Lau to participate in this series.

Chen Dai Ming and Chen Bao Guo to also participate in filming

Due to the fact that this is collaborated between HK and China, there will be many of China’s artists. As a production of the Zhong Yang Channel, they successfully invited A-Class actors such as Chen Dao Ming and Chen Bao Guo to participate in the filming. The two will be portraying extremely important characters. It is reported that this series tells about three generations, with the background of the story being the manufacturing of cars. The chosen date of airing is July 1st, the anniversary of the handover, but if they cannot make it in time, then it will be aired on the National Day of China (WS says: that’s on October 1st), and also, the series will be airing together in Hong Kong and China.

It was reported that TVB extremely values this series and even though it won’t be airing until mid next year, they have already been preparing for a while, organising the script, choosing the characters, filming location, contacting China’s actors to discuss it and so on. Due to the fact that it is their first time officially co-operating with China’s Zhong Yang Channel, TVB must prepare an entire storyline and have had to contact the people in charge in China many times to discuss the story, before beginning the actual filming. As to the actors, they have to be discussed together by both parties and so till today, the cast is still not confirmed, and they would still be holding countless beatings.

As to the production matters of this series, the reporters have contacted the people in charge, but producer Leung Ka Shu is incredibly busy and has not yet responded. It is assumed that he has already begun the busy work of preparing for this series.

Latest New Grand Production on Raymond [14/7/2006]

(1) 2007 Grand Production – Modern Series
Title: TBA
Total Episodes: 40
Producer: Lau Ka Hou
Cast: Moses Chan, Raymond Lam, Bosco Wong, Yoyo Mung, Linda Chung, Tavia Yeung

Full Info:

Chinese title: TBA
English title: TBA
Vietnamese title: TBA
Producer: Lau Ka Ho, TVB
Character name: TBA
Year of production: 2006, starting July
Confirmed Cast: Moses Chan, Yoyo Mung, Raymond Lam, Linda Chung, Bosco Wong, Tavia Yeung, Lai Lok Yi, Fala Chen, Wayne Lai, Lee Si Kei, Michelle Mai Suet, Ha Yu and Carrie Lam.
Filming location: Hong Kong (I think)
Plot: Raymond is a lawyer in this series and is in a love triangle with Linda Chung, also a lawyer (MetalAZNWarrior says, "Linda is cheap and smart and pairing with Raymond"), and Moses Chan, the illegitimate son of Ha Yu and who is managing Ha Yu's abalone business. Yoyo Mung will also be pairing with Raymond. Tavia Yeung is a model in this series and she is paired with Bosco Wong.
Notes: This is a 40 episodes, TVB grand production, and it's modern! Raymond will start on this as soon as he is done with The New Breath of Love in Shanghai (filming is scheduled to finish on 20th July 2006). Raymond will be pairing with Yoyo and Linda.
Raymond said that his role is probably only a minor one in this series.
Thanks fox for the following information: Apparently, Raymond is rich and the brother of Bosco and love interest of Tavia, but when he chose Linda over Tavia, Tavia then goes for Bosco.

Costume Fitting:

Raymond, I think, was back in Shanghai filming for The New Breath of Love and so missed this costume fitting.

In producer Lau Ka Ho's new series, Moses Chan Ho will be acting as Ha Yu's illegitimate son and will help manage Ha's abalone business. However, Moses' image appeared to be very old-fashioned, as he wore black kung fu shoes. Moses explained that he wanted to convey a more traditional look.

Other cast members include Yoyo Mung Ka Wai, Raymond Lam Fung, Linda Chung Ka Yan, Bosco Wong Chung Chak, Tavia Yeung Yi, Lai Lok Yi, Fala Chen, Wayne Lai Yiu Cheung, Lee Si Kei, Michelle Mai Shuet and last year's Miss Hong Kong 2nd runner-up, Carrie Lam Lei.

Linda will be acting as a lawyer and will be in a love triangle with Moses and Raymond Lam. Reporters noted that Raymond is a rumors magnet, but Linda is not afraid, as there are rumors each time she acts in a series. Besides, Linda is able to remove herself from her character once she finished filming a series, thus not allowing herself to fall in love with her co-stars.

Bosco and Tavia have just finished filming "Dou Cheung Fung Wan" and will be appearing as lovers again in the new series. Is Bosco afraid that there is no fresh feeling since he just worked with Tavia? Bosco said no, as they know each other quite well, which will only be an advantage in filming their romantic scenes.

Aside from Linda, Carrie is another tall actress in the series. Although standing at 5 ft 11 inches, Bosco is afraid that the girls will appear taller than him. Bosco joked and said that he will make sure to tell Carrie not to stand next to him, or perhaps he will buy a pair of high heels to wear.
In the series, Lai Lok Yi's mother will be a mistress. As there are many pretty actresses in this series, is Lai afraid that there will be rumors? He laughed, "Maybe you should ask the actresses if they are anxious, since I am considered handsome too." Lai also said that he has worked with all the actresses in the past before, so if there were rumors, they would have happened long before.

Additional Updates:

Tavia Yeung Yi will be playing a model in the series. She sported a refreshing Cleopatra hairstyle with bangs at the costume fitting yesterday. Tavia mentioned that she might wear a fake bust to enhance her curves this time as well, since she will be playing a model.
Yoyo Mung Ka Wai mentioned that in the series, she will be pairing with Raymond Lam Fung as a couple.

Veternan actress, Lee Si Kei, will also be returning to TVB to film for this series. Since her leave, she was confused by the vast number of "new" actresses in the series. Si Kei pointed to Yoyo Mung Ka Wai and said, "I know she must be quite famous, as I recognize her face, but I don't know her name."

News (1): Tammy Chen, Raymond Lam and Song Pu Ya Mi Meet

Tammy Chen and Japanese female star, Song Pu Ya Mi, meet in Shanghai! Tammy, who is currently filming Mainland production, The New Breath of Love, was very happy to see Song Pu Ya Mi, even though she was only making a guest appearance in one episode of the series. Delightedly, Tammy said, “Although this is my first time seeing her, I still think she is really cute!”

The New Breath of Love is a series based on Wong Man Wah’s novel, 61X57, with Tammy Chen and Hong Kong actor Raymond Lam, who had recently received Mainland’s most popular newcomer award, as the main leads. The director Chiang Ka Jun had once had rumours with Chan Hao Huen and Ga Jing Man. In the series, Tammy and Raymond are lovers, but are always fighting over little things. One time, Raymond took Tammy to a concert to cheer her up.

In order to make the concert seem more realistic, the crew especially invited Song Pu Ya Mi to Shanghai to hold a small concert. The audience there were also Song Pu Ya Mi’s real fans. Due to the fact that Song Pu Ya Mi would only give them one day to film, the crew tried to work as fast as possible, continuingly calling for Song Pu Ya Mi to get in t he right position and to look at the camera.

Due to the fact that Tammy, Raymond and Song Pu Ya Mi couldn’t understand each other, they only greeted each simply and during the filming, there were no lines between the three of them, the communication was entirely with the eyes. Tammy said, “The first time hearing her sing was really surprising! I didn’t think that her singing would be that good! I thought that she was just part of a young girls’ band, with a sweet and cute appearance.”

Tammy, who very easily becomes integrated with a series, filmed a bed scene with Raymond earlier. Raymond was propped on top of her, but in the end, what Raymond’s attention was diverted to was not her figure, but a boil on the corner of her lip, making Tammy so mad that she wanted to punch him!

News (2): Celebrities and the World Cup

This month, besides a lot of people watching the World Cup, Toronto is also being watched by a lot of people. Saturday Weekly speaks to five of Hong Kong’s artists about the World Cup. Someone is considered as half a fan, someone else said that they don’t watch soccer, but they all have their own teams that they support.

The most interesting was how Janice said the wrong thing, said that Korea has lost before they even had their final game. And in the end? She was right!

The reporter asked Janice if she watched the World Cup. She said, “I did! I watched Korea and France’s match. In the end they lost, so unhappy! (Wasn’t that match a draw?) Yes, but in the end when they were calculating the points they still lost, so sad!” The day of that interview (23rd June, 1 o’clock in the afternoon) was before North Korea’s last game. At that time, North Korea was coming second, so why did Janice say that North Korea had already lost?

“Really? I don’t know. Ha, ha … I don’t watch every single game, only North Korea’s, because my mother is Korean, so I also hope to support the North Korean team. I think that they’re not playing as well as they did in the last World Cup. But I think that they still have hope. Out of the many Asian teams, they play the best.”

Janice expressed that she won’t be watching the games of other teams.

In the end, North Korean lost the game, 0:2 to Switzerland, and France won 2:0. Janice had predicted that North Korea was going to be out. Some ball fans can’t even keep up with this prediction of the way the games are going.

Sharon Chan expressed that she does watch Soccer, and although she doesn’t watch every single game, she does understand a little, at least she can still name a few of the good-looking players.

“I think Argentina plays pretty well.” Does this mean Sharon is one of Argentina’s fans?

“Actually I like Brazil, but this year they don’t seem to be playing as well …” After thinking for a moment, she added, “Ricardo Kaka is very good-looking!”

Besides supporting Brazil, Sharon, like many Hong Kong people, support England as well. “England isn’t too well this year, and they got hurt in the Olympics … also that Crouch one …” The reporter asked, “Is it Peter Crouch?” Sharon answered, “Yes, Peter Crouch. He plays pretty well, too.”

As to whether or not she is considered a soccer fan, she answered, “I don’t watch Soccer that much, I’d watch the World Cup, but normally I don’t.”

Sunny Chan said that he doesn’t watch Soccer much nowadays, but in the past he was a fanatic of Soccer. It’s just that after entering the entertainment industry, because he has to handle his work, it was hard to keep his body in a superbly fit state, so he would sleep before twelve o’clock. “When I was still in acting school, I would watch soccer with my friends in the middle of the night, but after joining the entertainment industry, I stopped that.” Even though he doesn’t watch Soccer, when he was asked which team he supports, Sunny Chan said, “Definitely Brazil!”

Raymond Lam said that his schedule was so full that he couldn’t even accept some of the acting and other jobs offered to him. It was rare that he could go to Toronto and he treats this like a holiday. With the World Cup, he doesn’t have time to watch it, and also he said that he himself was never a fan of Soccer. However, when he was asked which team he supports, he responded strongly, saying, “Hong Kong people definitely support Brazil!” May I (the reporter) ask, is there a law in Hong Kong that states Hong Kong people must support Brazil?

Melissa Ng admitted that she doesn’t watch the World Cup. “I grew up in America, all the Soccer that I watch is American style.” But some people someone said that during filming, when the asked Melissa to join them, she didn’t decline the offer. “I would also listen to people talk about the World Cup, because if you don’t listen, you’ll have one less topic. It seems that Brazil is not bad, but tis year they’re not as good.”

News (3): Raymond on JSG for World Cup

Hacken Lee and Lam Man Chung have nothing to talk about together
This year’s World Cup has exceptionally more rumours

Hacken Lee and Lam Man Chung, because of the World Cup, have had a fight and yesterday when the two attended the Jade Solid Gold World Cup event, Lam Man Chung, the guest MC and Hacken, who was onstage, did not talk to each other. All the while Amigo Choy was standing in between. Hacken didn’t dare to talk about the rumours that TVB forbid to be talked about. There were many artists present at the function, including Twins, Raymond Lam, Ron Ng, Kevin Cheng, Bosco Wong, Ella Koon, Toby Leung and others. The fans there were also very enthusiastic.

News (4): Chickens and Ducks [so funny]

The Sun

Tammy Chen and Aya Matsuura are like Chickens talking to Ducks

Caption: Tammy Chen (left) co-operates with Aya Matsuura for the first time and praises that she is friendly

Raymond Lam and Tammy Chen’s series, The New Breath of Love, specially invited Japanese singer Aya Matsuura to sing the theme and sub song. Earlier Aya Matsuura even took some of her time to visit them on the set and even guest starred in one scene. Tammy Chen can’t stop praising Aya, “Even though we can’t communicate verbally, but through body language we had a very good chat. Originally, Aya was playing a very important character in the series, but unfortunately her schedule was extremely tight and so now she is just guest starring as a singer.” Tammy Chen complimented that Aya’s performance was natural and so the film process was very smooth and only required half a day. Tammy continued, “This is our first time working together and I feel that she is not self-centred at all! We’ve exchanged e-mail addresses already so we can keep in contact later.”

News (5): Raymond Fires His Driver

Sing Tao

On the night of TVB’s World Cup function there were many actors and singers present to show their support. The celebrities even played games for the atmosphere of the event to surge. Jordan Chan, Ron Ng, Bosco Wong, Kevin Cheng, Raymond Lam, Toby and others all felt that Uncle’s retirement was a pity. Bosco expressed that he believes many Hong Kong people also feel that Uncle is the one who was most dared to speak and be critical when he is talking about soccer. Jordan Chan said that many years ago he never watched soccer, but meeting Uncle was the reason that made him take an interest in soccer.

Earlier when Raymond was filming in Mainland, he fired his driver because his driver’s attitude was bad. The driver launched an attack, saying to Raymond’s assistant that he was going to tell the media that Raymond owed him pay. Towards this, Raymond said, “I’m not scared. I’ve already paid him his salary, so what can he say? (Have you hired a new driver yet?) I have! This one is good! Polite, knows the roads well and he doesn’t even eat as much!”
