My Home Magazine Translation [17/6/2006]

I'm so sorry that everything is in bits and parts! It took me so long to actually be bothered to sit down and translate the magazine! Next time, I'll try to translate things as soon as I get my hands on them. So sorry! You guys have probably read the translations somewhere else, already, but oh well. I'm still thankful I actually managed to translate the thing. ^^

My Home

Since the beginning, the name Raymond Lam has been representing a certain television company as one of their leading actors of the younger generation and participating in many grand productions. As well as that, his characters are generally well accepted and loved by the audience. His development can be considered as fast and brilliant. Today, I was fortunate to meet Raymond, and, seeing the other side of him, I deeply understood why the company thinks so highly of him and why his career is skyrocketing.

Raymond Lam has always let other people think that he is well mannered and wealthy, dressed entirely in designer labels and looked upon with favour by Madame Li Xiao He, even becoming her godson. Compared to other artists, his chance of becoming famous is much higher and easier; he doesn’t have to work hard at all to become a leading actor (of the younger generation). Towards these opinions, Raymond doesn’t think much about them; on the other hand, he would work even harder to develop his acting skills. Raymond says, “I graduated from a training class. When I first entered the industry I was always taking note of other people’s actions and words and absorbing these behaviours. I also asked some seniors for advice and after a long time I began to have my own way of acting.”

Besides that, every time Raymond receives a new job, he would do some preparation, discussing with the scriptwriters to understand his character to learn how to properly portray his character. In all these years, the series Raymond has participated in have all been highly praised and he has won many awards. As to receiving awards, Raymond is definitely very pleased of the approval, but he is not completely satisfied. He wishes to be able to try out different characters and in the process refine his acting. As you can see, Raymond does not wish to be an idol-drama-actor; instead, he wants to be a skilled actor.

What hobbies does Raymond enjoy? Judging from his appearance, he should belong to the active type of men, and he probably enjoys out-door activities. And it turns out, it’s right! Raymond does like going out to sea with his friends, swimming and playing basketball. Sometimes when he doesn’t have to work, he also likes staying at home, playing games or reading. It seems that a great deal of artists prefer to stay at home.

Every person has different dreams for their homes. I’m sure that everyone is curious to find out what kind of home Raymond hopes for. Don’t think that he only likes modern designs because he looks like a fashionable person, because the truth is actually the reverse! Raymond said, “A lot of people reckon that young people should like fashionable, modern designs, but I’m the opposite, liking wooden furniture. Wood gives me a feeling of warmth, I really like a home to have this warm feeling, and definitely not a cold and icy feeling.”

Also, he likes his furniture designs to be simple. A simple life would be the most suitable for Raymond. He likes the location of his house to be a place where transportation is convenient, and at the same time bringing some peace and quiet. In fact, this entirely matches his liking-simple-things personality and his busy life. Besides this, the part of his home that he feels is most important is a transparent cupboard where he puts all his beloved toy models. Just by looking at the fact that his family treasures are toy models, you can tell that he still has a childlike innocence.

This was my first time meeting Raymond Lam, and the thing that left the deepest impression was his kind and courteous attitude. At the end of the interview, he very politely thanked the photographer and I. His earnestly honest attitude cannot even compare to the rampant attitude others say that he has. With his hard-working enthusiasm, his kind and courteous attitude, in the future, he will definitely become an achiever!
